Just a note…

I have changed the way comments are managed on here, due to some technical problems.  You no longer need to create an account to leave a comment…so comment away if you like.  Or don’t.  I won’t lose any sleep over it.

Pathetic Assault

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

America, I can hardly wait until the November elections are held and the votes are counted. I would state that I can hardly wait for a Democratic Presidential candidate, but the bickering, the verbal misinterpretations, the insults, and the semantics won’t come even close to slowing down with that decision.

For several months now the American public has been constantly bombarded with the snipes of the Presidential candidates. If it is Clinton saying something completely absurd and, not too mention, completely false, about Bosnia it is McCain shooting his mouth off about a war which will last a century. And if it isn’t one of them it is Obama, although, in the name honesty, Obama is the least guilty of them all. Even looking outside the nonsense espoused by these three, however, our populace finds mention of the race. Bloodthirsty news agencies with decades of truth distortion at their disposal crowd the scenes like ravens on a battlefield.

I am tired and weary beyond the scope of my vocabulary of all of this. I am greatly fatigued of Clinton’s snide and condescending attitude toward not only Obama, but to the very people she seeks to lead. I am tired of McCain running his mouth about things he knows little of, his insane hypocrisies, his apathetic and half-assed promises. I am tired of hearing Obama’s name dragged through the mud for voicing an honest, heartfelt opinion. I am especially weary of watching the contaminated, one-sided version of the ‘truth’ from the corporate media. In short, I am fed the fuck up with this nasty little affair.

The latest round of sheer political stupidity is aimed (again) at Obama, for statements made regarding the feeling of the American people. Clinton decries him of ‘looking down’ on voters. McCain defames Obama as ‘condescending and out of touch’. Well, Clinton and McCain, I would absolutely love to be the one to ram this news down YOUR smug, wealthy, worry-free, and yes, condescending fucking throats, but seeing as I how that particular golden opportunity isn’t knocking at my door I’ll just have to settle with this happy medium; Obama isn’t ‘out of touch’ or ‘condescending’ and he isn’t ‘looking down on voters’. How do I know this you are asking…glad you asked.

Why don’t we start with the source of these aspersive attacks, shall we?

Obama made the statement that many working-class Americans are ‘angry and bitter over economic inequalities and have lost faith in Washington…and as a result, vote on the basis of other issues such as gun protections or gay marriage’.

That statement is at the miserly, corrupt heart of the latest round of political bashing. Although I must confess more than a little confusion as to why; Obama is right, unequivocally so. Compounding the severe posturing by Clinton and Obama is the simple, and highly visible FACT, that these are two of the most vainglorious and smug people in the public eye. That they dare to cast him into that same, tainted light is an insult to American intelligence of the worst and, most patronizing kind.
I am one of those bitter, disenchanted, and angry working-class Americans Obama spoke of. What separates me from many other rancorous Americans trapped in a pay-day to pay-day life is my upbringing. I was raised to think clearly, forcefully, and, pay attention here, for myself! I was raised to question the things I was told to believe. I was raised to educate myself about ALL aspects of life. I was raised, in short, to enhance my personal knowledge of the world we call home. I grew up in a house which was, and still is, a veritable treasure trove of literary accomplishment. I was afforded, at no small expense to my family, the ability to educate myself in order that I might be able to live a life which can be described as good, as right, as person who walks through life with outraged conscience when necessary, rather than merely drift through the world for all my years, dying with the knowledge that my life was void of any accomplishment or feeling. Many Americans are not afforded that exquisite opportunity. If that damns me to the ranks of the condescending elite, then so be it. Better to die standing, than to live on your knees.

Yet even with my unusually enriched upbringing I am bitter and enraged with my country. I am furious at the unprincipled and unchecked perfidy which our leaders (though they hardly deserve the title) brazenly enforce upon us. I am livid with the horrible fact that our land is no longer ruled by the lawfully elected officials we see each and every day, the wealthy and immoral corporate world now claims our government. I am near insane with the accumulation of wealth to the very few in this land, the complete lack of morality displayed by such men and women. And I see no way, at least, no simply way, of righting the ship that is my country. We have, through the course of years, allowed an uncaring and detached praetorian elite gain far too much power, and now we are caught in the inexorable storm that such things must bring.

So perhaps you can now see why my ire falls upon those dishonest and cowardly fools who are the critics of Obama for his very honest statement, and his staunch defense of his statement. Clinton and McCain posses more villainous gall than even I had imagined. They strike at Obama with false accusations in hopes that the disenchanted masses will damn him for his honesty. They deliberately slander his name and twist his words with cruel and unerring intent.

Are these two foul and odious creatures to be permitted yet more power in my country? Do you truly wish to find yourself ruled by a woman who purposefully misrepresents not only herself, but others as well? Do you seek to enthrone a man who is so far out of touch with America that he believes in fighting a war for a century?

Or do you wish a leader who will perhaps try to level the playing field for ALL Americans?
