Soldier for Jesus?

Alright people, time for a question, and with any luck, a fucking answer that makes some sort of sense.

I was driving home from work the other day, and the entire length of my rather short and frustration free commute (if you can actually call it that) I was stuck behind a truck with a sticker that said ‘Soldier for Jesus’. Normally I’d have let that thought perish just as swiftly as I could, but for thirty minutes I was permitted the distinct pleasure of staring at that sticker.

Anyhow, the sticker mustered a few rogue thoughts about Christianity. Most of the time I ignore these perilous thoughts as they lead to a great deal of confusion and anger; Christians, for all their lovely rhetoric, aren’t very nice people. Now before all of you fly into a rage (proving my point), keep in mind that I am generalizing here, individual Christian types aren’t all that bad…grouping tends to be a problem though.

Anyway…Christ, soldiers…anybody else see the fucking problem here?

While I am no expert in the ways of Christianity (nor do I have any desire to be) I do seem to remember the ever-present theme of ‘tolerance, forgiveness, understanding…peace’. None of those terms, those themes, whatever you wish to call them are agreeable with the very idea of a soldier. Soldiers are called when you boot needs to be put to ass; soldiers are called to finish a problem, violently under most circumstances. So…anybody else see the fucking problem here?

Well…I seem to have reached a dead end on this one…I’ll depart, back later. Maybe. If I feel like it.

Out.
