Blackwater has a murky fucking future
I just finished reading a seven page report on the doings of Blackwater in Iraq, and I must say, these monsters deserve a public execution on the steps of the Supreme Court. Arrogant pricks.
Since private contractors first put boots on the ground in Iraq complaints have been reported to American military officials with regularity. Problem is that the complaints have never been dealt with in anything but a dismissive manner. The complaints have come from many sources, Iraqi civilians, Iraqi government officials and offices, as well as American military sources and American government officials. Yet the Pentagon and the State Department have done nothing, or very nearly nothing.
No genuine action was taken until the 16 September shootings, as a matter of fact. Neither the State Department nor the Pentagon was even remotely concerned with the doings of Blackwater until 17 Iraqi civilians were shot and killed in one, single incident. I doubt either agency would have shown any care at all if the event weren’t so public; no amount bullshit could gloss that situation over.
If any of you out there believe that Blackwater and every other company like them is doing America any kind of benefit, then read on. No one should believe that these contractor scum are anything but a hindrance (at the very least) on U.S. reputation abroad, nor should anyone believe that these crooked and plunderous vermin are a more economically efficient way of fighting a war.
7 February 2006: Blackwater guards suspected in the shootings of three Kurdish civilians outside the city of Kirkuk.
24 December 2006: A Blackwater employee kills a bodyguard of an Iraqi vice-president in the Green Zone.
February 2007: Blackwater sniper kills three security guards for state run media network.
24 May 2007: Blackwater employees shoot and kill civilian driver in front of the Interior Ministry gates.
16 September 2007: The now infamous killing of 17 Iraqis in Nisour Square.
9 October 2007: Blackwater guards shoot and kill two Iraqi women in Baghdad.
I could continue listing off the crimes of these assholes, but I have no need too. Anyone of reasonable intelligence can see quite clearly that these ‘people’ are a blight on our country and upon the world at large. Where ever they set foot they leave anger, despair, bloodshed, and incoherent rage. Worse, they are getting away with it. No one seems the least bit motivated to stopping this criminal organization of blood hungry mercenaries.
Our own government is hurrying to find ways to make this company appear to be guilt free, as if what they are doing is acceptable behavior.
“I’m not aware of any significant warnings.”
This from a senior official within the State Department, who remains unnamed, to my regret. Yes, the State Department conducted investigations prior to the 16 September shootings, but they barely qualified as investigations, and Blackwater was found innocent of all wrong doing, every time.
The source of Blackwater arrogance and bravado finds its root in CPA Order 17, signed by Paul Bremer 27 June 2004. This order is the decree that gave American contractors immunity from Iraqi law. Once Bremer (that wretched son of a whore) signed this order Iraq effectively became powerless when dealing with contractors.
Still, U.S. lawmakers made an attempt to force control and oversight of contractor behavior and action. 17 Oct 2006 marks the date when Congress passed a provision allowing the U.S. military full control and authority over independent contractors. A fine idea to be sure, one problem remains. The Defense Department has not validated the bill, fourteen months after it was approved by Congress. So contractors are still allowed all the freedom in the world to act like barbaric, rabid dogs.
People, America is falling into a pit and our leaders seem unaware of it. All nations in history rise to the top through fire and steel, war is how nations are made great. But all nations will fall, they will come toppling down, history is full of great empires crashing to their knees after centuries (and even eons) of dominance. To the regret of many here in America, our nation is following perfectly the example of Rome in its latter days. What happened over sixteen hundred years ago is happening again, now, in our day.
Rome was felled because of a failing economy, divided and crooked politicians, laws aimed and increasing the wealth of the wealthy, by the use of mercenaries to support the Roman legions. By the time the Western Roman Empire was brought low the legions of Rome were no longer Roman; they were filled with the soldiers of enemy states, mercenaries is you will. America is now using these same tactics to fight her wars.
Our military, brave and talented as the might be, is tired and exhausted. They have been driven to the breaking point by endless rotations to Iraq. Patience is thin as they fight an enemy that can melt away in an instant. Your sons and daughters are tired of seeing their friends killed or maimed by weapons for which there is no defense. Our military, in short, is too small, under funded, and over worked to win this war. And the asshole in the White House doesn’t care. Instead of doing the right thing and ending this war, or at the very least, pouring money into the U.S. military, the Boy King dumped money into private contractors, or mercenaries.
They are governed by now law. They are held accountable to no one but themselves. They are brash, arrogant, and unrestrained in the use of deadly force. And they will continue to be as such until America demands punishment be leveled upon these people.
Here is your link, people, read it please and inform yourself on the real state of private contractors in this war. Maybe once you know the true cost of using these virulent insects to fight a war we never should have started will you demand justice.
Out.
